Team Holt Etchell Wins National and British Open Championship
Double Etchells World Champion and former Olympian Stuart Childerley showed he still had what it takes in Etchells sailing in Britain with an impressive victory at the 2005 International Etchells Class National and British Open Championship, which was sailed out of the Royal Corinthian Yacht Club, Cowes, Isle of Wight from Friday 1st to Sunday 3rd July.
Sailing away from the 31 strong fleet, the Team Holt Etchell, helmed by Childerley with his crew, Simon Russell and Roger Marino, counted 4 firsts and a second. Brothers Nils Razmilovic and Ante Razmilovic were second and third respectively. The 31-strong fleet included two teams from Ireland and one from the USA.
With a south westerly blowing between 10-18knots for all 3 days and competition was very tight all the way through the fleet - there were opportunities to break free from the fleet, but sensible sailing was highly rewarded and the Team Holt Crew. showed that they were in the running for the another Etchells World title in San Francisco in September this year.
